Wheel Chair Tennis South Africa

April 06, 2013

Wheel Chair Tennis South Africa had an inspirational visit from Drum Cafe Johannesburg for the ACSA opening dinner. The  interactive proved again that anybody can be part of a drumming circle. Regardless of your creed, status or physical condition, you as a participant can contribute toward the musical interaction that takes place. Wheelchair Tennis South Africa experienced this first hand as Drum Cafe provided a steady beat and the people joyously expressed their interpretations of the rhythms.

Drumming has great implications as it breaks down communication barriers and removes inhibitions creating an ensemble that seamlessly work together to create rhythms. With drumming you start to listen to your teammates and learn to move with the flows of the beats and melodies as a team.

During this session local African tennis players instinctively took the lead and quickly drew in the international visiting participants, crossing international borders and celebrating their unity.
